“I put my heart and my soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process.” Vincent van Gogh

Woah, a VanGogh I've never seen before.

On BART one time I saw a scary lookin' lady with
a tattoo of that VanGogh pic of himself with the bandage over where his ear had been.

I wanted to ask her about the tatt but I was afraid that she'd try to bite my ear off.

It can also go the other direction and you can find it! It's a fine line.

I'm sure the good Dr. is correct.
V. VanG seems to have done both at different times in his career.. painting great pix when he wasn't cutting off his ear or getting mental-hospitalized...

the drawings for this painting are rad too. I like the fact that he didn't start painting until later in his life, it helps to be reminded that if you put in the time you'll get the results.

It will always remain to me both baffling and a stark reminder of persona versus "making it" in the "real world"...that he only sold one piece of art, however short both his art career (8 yrs, yet 2000+ works) and his life (37, suicide). His last words were "the sadness will last forever." What a contrast to his canvass.
