Thanks Max.

I bought these tanks out of friend's shop, where they'd been hanging for years, with the promise that I'd never repaint them: "Paint them over? Fuck that. Those are rad!"

So I get my bike finished, and one day this Old Timer shows up and says, "Hey I remember this bike." After I explain to him that I built the bike but had bought the tanks, he asks me if I know the story behind them.... It goes a little someth'n like this:

Back in the day this dude was accused, tried and convicted of killing his old lady; the entire time he professed his innocence. After he was sentenced, his brother built a bike as a tribute to his wrongly accused brother. He painted the right tank with a dismal graveyard scene of a dead naked woman (ala 70's bush) laying at the foot of a headstone with a skeleton draped over it. On the headstone is the accused's name, NOT the dead chick. On the left tank half he painted a Grim Reaper pointing at the rider. What I find interesting is the Reaper is pointing at the rider in an almost "He did it" kind of way..... just say'n.

As I proofread this, it doesn't sound nearly as cool as when the Old Timer told the story...... what the hell, I love my bike & I love those tanks.

Thanks for putting these up.

Keep the Oily Side Down
