i got this truck in 1995. it was a super big deal
to me. j.jessee helped me find it and ok'd it.
i drove it for a few years but was to much of a
kook to drive it all the time. about a 7 or 8 yrs ago
driving on the freeway uphill the motor blew up.
i was so bummed. i parked in in the backyard and there
it sat.... collecting cobwebs. life went on and it did
not. my wife and i took our first date that truck. i
remember being so nervous i ran a red light right in front
of the cops....
i had a rebuilt motor sitting in the garage and a friend
that was down to help... and i always wanted to redo that date.
so here is what happened one sunday afternoon.
she strong one
she's got the jack
my mentor. my buddy dave
and i get the new 235 ready.
god damn linkages
he loves chewing the tops
off beer cans. supervisor.
on the road again.
it's a weird feeling to have something
sit in the yard for so long and look so
abandoned and then in a day have it back
out and purring down the street.

)good on you to get her back rolling(
I dig the shit out of my 1 ton thriftmaster, and the 235 that just went in with me and some friends makes it much more reliable
Is it bone stock? My buddy had a stock '55 and he had to plan his stops a day ahead of time. HAHA
Alright the gauntlet's down. Had my '49 five window since '80. Been sitting since '95. New motor's just about done. Don't be surprised when you look out your window and guess who in what.
dr. sprock... we're waiting.
Right on dude.
I'm bolting a motor together myelf right now...
Great story Max. Glad you got it runnin!
tHIng is sick as shit Max! killin it as always, they all smell the same- those trucks, the insides of em- you know what im sayin...
what engine is that?
Pretty rad yer girl is down to help too.
So, after he chews the tops off of the beercans,
does her finish your beers for you?
Love that you've got whitewalls& hub caps on it
instead of mags.
yeah he drinks the backwash.
Yeah, 'cause the backwash isn't carbonated. Dogs don't like carbonated drinks because the bubbles go up their noses..
what kind of dog is it?
Hey Max, the bike looks sick!
Have a looksie over at my blog... you might be interested in checking out my Triumph rebuild project!
Cheers!
The coolest thing about that truck has gotta be the memories. I got a truck that's close to my heart for similar reasons. Motor blew up, transmission leaked for years, but everyone I know rolled in that thing. That's awesome.
Those motors sound good through split manifolds.
Cool that you got it back up and running Max.
The spare gives it such and appeal. Once lowered it will be perfect. enjoy
RQ
re lowering
otoh "if it ain't broke don't fix it"
You're building custom BIKES after all.
that fuckin rad man. bravo so did ya thae the lil lady for a drive and run another light?
Made it through the tube to the Alameda skatepark I see. Congrats on gettin' a classic runnin' again.
oddly... we got pulled over by the
railroad police for trespassing. lurking around and some of the dirt roads next to the tracks.
I have a '54 Chevy 3100. freaking love it. congrats on getting her back on the asphalt Max. heart those inline 6s, too!
i do love some classic trucks...
super rad !
Nice to see this beauty on the road again.
The patina is gorgeous, I (half) hope you never paint it.
