Ah the opener to Operation Barbarossa - First picture: that has to be 1942' spring time Hell...could even be the beginning of Barbarossa in 41' (Sept/October)... from the looks of the M1934 protective coats and the helmets are the version - M1935..yeah...the uniforms look a tad green too.
That looks like a BMW R12.
Second picture: Could be Spring summer - 42' than the first...has to be...the webbing and coats look a bit different.

Looks like some tough duty- probably on the Russian front. The guys sleeping on their bikes (one with a broken out light)is an amazing picture.
