Jeff was awesome! At age 14 me and my buddies used to sneak away from Louisiana over to Dallas to skate his park. Back then 5 bucks got you in the park for the whole day none of this 20 dollars for a 2 hour "Session" bullshit at parks today. We would skate till we dropped and then Jeff would let us crash in the flat of the bowl (the park was 24 hour) We were headed back out west to do it again when Lew The Jew dropped the bomb on us that The Vaginal Vortex had claimed Jeff's life. Thanks for posting the pictures. Oh, and who the hell else can say they beat Tony Bird while tripping acid?

Thanks for posting these shots, Max.
Phillips never gets any respect in the (mainstream) annals of skate history.

I have had the same old pic of Jeff on one of my walls evre since 1985. It's been w/ me in a shitload of houses I've lived in. One of my great inspirations in skating for sure.

Why is it that I still relate to these old 80's vert rippers more so than most of the other street skaters, etc...

Skateboarding was SO much cooler before hip-hop came in & changed it up & made it fashionable. Fuck.

lo res...no doubt, i still think the eighties skaters were more stylistically diverse to watch...,caballero,gator, lance mountain, phillips, craig johnson, even mcgill was interesting because of his weird style...hosoi? holy shit...mad style. ego to match.

Jeff Phillips never wore a watch.
In a Texas newspaper he said "I think I am Peter Pan and yes i can fly!"
