I have rebuilt three motorcycles inside the living room of a squat in London, ca 1987. Nobody used this ground floor room as it was cold; everyone hung around the kitchen, which was upstairs/warmer, so the liv.rm. was fair game. Two MZ 250s which took me and my girl to the USSR and back, plus a Honda 500 twin for a friend. Much better than the rainy London sidewalk. Fixing drag bikes I imagine is much the same, although it's the A.C. they want...
